Fed: Nick Sherry relinquishes Lift role

NICK SHERRY .. the federal Minister for Superannuation and Corporate Law .. has excused
himself from any government role in the investigation of collapsed margin lender Lift
Capital Partners.

The minister said yesterday the corporate watchdog .. the Australian Securities and
Investments Commission .. would investigate after Lift Capital went into voluntary administration.

But today Senator SHERRY says he's learned two members of his extended family have
been affected by the unlisted stockbrokers's collapse .. so he's relinquishing his ministerial
responsibilities over the matter.

Treasurer WAYNE SWAN will now oversee the matter.
