NSW:Gillard gets good and bad news in new poll

There's good news and bad news for Prime Minister JULIA GILLARD in the latest Nielsen
poll out this morning .. most people support her floods levy and a carbon price .. and
she remains preferred prime minister.

But the coalition has recorded an eight percentage point lead on a two-party preferred
basis .. 54 per cent compared to 46 per cent .. with Labor suffering a four per cent swing
against it since the August election.

The poll .. in Fairfax newspapers today .. shows on primary votes .. the Coalition
holds 46 per cent .. Labor is on 32 per cent .. and the Greens hold 12 per cent.

Ms GILLARD still leads the way as preferred prime minister .. by 51 per cent compared
to Mr ABBOTT'S 41 per cent .. but her disapproval rating has risen four points to 43 per
cent .. while Mr ABBOTT'S rose one point to 49 per cent.

The poll .. taken between Thursday and Saturday .. reveals Labor's poorest performances
were in Queensland, Western Australia and New South Wales .. where the coalition leads
Labor by 48 per cent to 31 per cent.
